Since its founding in 2001, Satipañña Insight Meditation Toronto (formerly Spring Rain Sangha, or SRS) has continued to grow and mature. In addition to offering weekly meditation classes, we run a number of 1-day and multi-day retreats each year. Our Dharma Home Study meetings are geared towards those wishing to familiarize themselves with the Buddha’s teachings. Other programs respond to those interested in deepening their commitment to practice.
Offering more programs in response to the growing needs of our sangha has inevitably increased our expenses. In the past, the funds generated from running multi-day retreats helped cover administration costs, publicity, and rent. To help us meet our increasing expenses, we are introducing the attached donation form. We hope that you see value in all of our sangha functions and will support this initiative. Please note that your 1-time donation will help cover rent and administration costs and does not include your Dana (donations) to the teachers. Your Dana helps compensate for the loss of income when SIMT teachers take time off from work to lead retreats. The teachers also spend a great deal of personal time preparing our many programs, offering guidance, and meeting with students. Your generosity, in the form of Dana, also enables them to take time for their own personal retreats.
If you would like to make a regular Membership contribution to support the work of Satipañña Insight Meditation Toronto, please click on the link to our “Membership” page in the column to the left. This page also describes the benefits of membership, which include discounts for retreats and other events. Such recurring support further sustains our Dhamma work.
SIMT has charitable status, so we provide tax receipts for pledges and donations.
All funds collected through donations are solely intended to expand practice-related programs, and provide the opportunity for everyone to participate in all SIMT events regardless of financial capability. It is our fervent wish that no one ever be turned away from any practice-related function because of a lack of finances.
Your support will help make the Dhamma accessible to everyone interested.
May all beings share in the merit of our practice.
If you wish to make a donation, you can do so online. If you would like a hard copy, you may pick one up at a Tuesday evening meditation, or click on the “Contact Us” link below, then click on the “General Inquiries” link. This will open an e-mail, using which you can send us your name and address. A donation form can be mailed to you. Thank you!
